Urs Bernegger began his career as a bank apprentice in Zurich, learning the ins and outs of banking services and operations with the highly customer-focused Julius Bär Group. Subsequently he joined the bank’s FX division, where he helped grow a great franchise in a succession of progressively responsible trading roles, prompting the bank to appointme to run its New York FX spot trading department. While in New York, he was recruited by AIG Trading Group to serve as Senior Vice President and Senior Trader FX Spot. Between 1993 and 2010, Urs worked for UBS Investment Bank in the US and Switzerland, with regional and global responsibilities respectively. Roles held with the bank include Chief Dealer of the North America FX Spot Desk, Head of FX Spot & PM Trading for North America/Deputy Global Head and Global Head of FX Spot & PM Trading. Urs moved to Bank Vontobel in 2013. As Managing Director and Head of FX & PM at Vontobel, he established a new FX setup involving a shift to electronic trading and straight through processing, including integration of the Investment Banking (IB) unit’s structured products desk. In 2016, he founded Helvetii Consulting advising on strategy to improve efficiency and results in all areas of electronic FX, addressing Buy- and Sell Side needs as well working with Fintech companies to position their products in the FX market.
Björn Lapakko grew up in Minneapolis. He had the pleasure to work with brands like Microsoft, 3M, and Best Buy. Now, Björn is living in Tallinn, Estonia learning about the blockchain and life within a startup.

Guido Rudolphi first got in contact with computers when he was six years old – which is almost 50 years ago. After a career in journalism, he became a computer and internet-forensics expert and as such got in contact with Bitcoins pretty early. After his studies, Michael moved to Vietnam for a short period of time, where he co-founded a leading price comparison website in Southeast Asia. He is still active as a member of the advisory board. Currently, Michael is in a process to found a third company which is in stealth mode.
Markus Hablizel has a strong quantitative academic background (math, cryptography, computer sciences) incl. MBA. He has long experience in the insurance industry, especially operations, business development, M&A and corporate venture capital.

Gene Vayngrib believes in changing world by achieving the economies of scale with cooperative commercial networks, enabled by the blockchain technology. To get there Gene and his Tradle team are building a Trust Provisioning Network, starting with the KYC solution for all sectors of banking and insurance. Gene is a Blockchain evangelist, speaker and architect of Blockchain solutions. Prior to Tradle, he co-founded a startup that pioneered the decentralized business network helping ship and invoice millions of tons of products in a supply chain spanning 20 countries. Stephan Hoeger has joined UBS in 2010 to help building the electronic FX (eFX) Distribution business and is since 2013 Head of e-Distribution for FX, Rates & Credit (FRC) for the CEMEA region and since 2015 co-Head for EMEA FRC Flow Distribution. Prior to this, Stephan has worked for several years in the eFX distribution team at Barclays in London, UK. He holds a Master’s degree in International Economics from the University of Innsbruck, Austria and Universidad de Valladolid, Spain. Johannes Huebner previously co-founded two startups as their CTO, one of which is a FinTech company (a PFM app launched in Germany, called Numbrs). Since then, he joined forces with ETH and Leonteq to research the Finance and Insurance industries in detail. Richard Olsen is a pioneer of market micro-structure; he wrote and co-authored many scientific papers, a book on high frequency finance. Konstantin holds a Master in Business Administration and worked on one of the 1st German Robo-Advisors in 2009.
Daniel Spirig is a Swiss executive manager with 22 years of activity in the software, IT and telecommunications industry. At companies such as SQS Software Quality Systems (Schweiz) AG, Hewlett Packard Switzerland and Siemens Switzerland, Daniel developed state-of-the art solutions together with customers, providing both added value and achieving results with distinct cost savings. Daniel’s focus also lies in the business development, sales and marketing of IT services and complex solutions, including managed services (near- & off-shoring), outsourcing with employee takeover, consulting & integration and management consulting. His track record includes achievements such as making SQS Schweiz the No. 1 company in its segment in Switzerland and increasing sales yearly by 18% in average between 2006 and 2013. Under his leadership, EBIT was increased significant in 2011-2012 and in 2012-2013. Between 2008 and 2010 he was a member of the SQS Schweiz Managing Board, since 2011 in charge as Managing Director for Entire Switzerland. Michael van der Meer covers emerging market companies within the RobecoSAM Sustainability Investing team. Prior to joining RobecoSAM in 2016, Michael was responsible for overseeing several of Trading Emissions PLC’s clean energy investments in emerging markets. For Trading Emissions, a UK-listed investment fund, he served as a non-executive director at Singapore-based Asia Biogas. Michael started his career at an international consultancy in Beijing, being responsible for several EU-funded trade competitiveness and sustainability studies in China. Michael, a Mandarin speaker, received a BSc with First Class Honours and an MSc with Distinction from the University of London in management and finance. Michael is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder.
Mark Wilcox is a technology entrepreneur from New Zealand with a background in media communication and social systems. He’s interested in large scale, market-based distributed systems and is currently developing new organisational models for distributed software development.
Roger Wirth started off as a banking software developer in 1994 (mainframe and decentral systems) at a major Swiss bank. He gained experience in IT security consulting and project management at a Swiss IT services company and built up a new line of business for new technologies at a Swiss IT services company (enterprise java). Roger ran global IT departments for software engineering (new technologies, web development and IT security) and the IT security stream of a strategic banking platform program as well as the Information Security function for the Wealth Management division at a major Swiss bank.
Patrick Wittwer is a veteran of the insurance business. He has 20 years of experience as an insurance manager, insurance broker and founded later 2015 a startup in the area of peer2peer insurances with his friends from the fields of IT architecture, programming and coding. They will release soon a whole new wave of p2p insurance platform and leading to cheaper and more customer centric insurance coverage all around the world. Fast, smart and easy.
Fei Zhang is heading the Blockchain Innovation Lab of Disruptive Technologies within the Allianz Group. In this role, he is advising the Allianz management board and senior executives within the group on the corporate objectives and strategies regarding Allianz activities in the blockchain space. He is also responsible for designing, implementing and rolling out value-creating blockchain business cases within the group. Before joining Allianz, Fei has worked on innovation and disruptive technology topics including big data analytics, customer experience design, software-defined networking, unified communications across telecom industry and management consulting. Fei holds an MBA from INSEAD and engineering degrees from Supélec and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
As Investment Manager in our Zurich office, Alex Stöckl is focusing on investments in the technology sector. Having previously held the position as VP Business Development at Pure Foods AG, where he was strongly involved in the early stage expansion, Alex brings hands-on startup experience to the table. Prior to that Alex worked for several years as a Senior Consultant at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants, where he advised top management of industrial and retail clients on issues relating to strategy development & optimization, growth strategies and corporate restructuring. Alex holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (BBA) from European University Barcelona and a Master’s degree with distinction in International Business (MIB) from Grenoble Graduate School of Business. In his spare time Alex enjoys travelling, doing sports or exploring Zurich’s exciting restaurant scene.
Kevin Tholke is a FinTech professional with a background in prepaid debit cards, mobile bank accounts, and payments. He is currently consulting for FinTech companies in Switzerland, with work focusing on strategy, growth, and product development. Prior to moving to Switzerland, he was Director for the prepaid business unit at Green Dot Corporation, a leading US prepaid company. He worked closely with the executive team on the corporate strategy for international expansion, and with business development on new distribution opportunities. Kevin helped build the product roadmap, prioritize revenue initiatives, and generate strategic partnerships. He also worked closely with cross-functional stakeholders, including: product, analytics, marketing, risk, sales, supply chain, legal/compliance, and customer care. Earlier in his career, he worked in investment banking and as a financial analyst.
André Wolke is an entrepreneur, crypto-enthusiast, future of money evangelist, software and infrastructure engineer working in the fin-tech space. André is the founder of Validity Labs, the first smart-contract school in Switzerland and the CEO of Swiss Cryptotech GmbH, a R&D company focusing on providing blockchain enabled big-data solutions for enterprise companies. He is also the Co-Founder/Organiser of the blockchain-meetup Switzerland.
Ariel is the head of global business development at Centralway AG. He has been working with startups since 1999, when he was an HTML programmer. Ariel has founded a number of businesses around the world and can share experience and expertise on how to (and how not to) build teams, deal with investors (having raised over 5m $ for his last project), and approach emerging markets (Russia specifically, having founded an online B2B marketplace there in 2014). Ariel also has a wide network of connections to share, both in the valley and in the Israeli tech scenes.
